My brothers stepdaughter gave birth to a baby girl last Monday. They discovered the baby has a hole in a heart a few days later but let her go home. Her follow up appointment is in about 1 month. It sounds like if the hole has not closed they will have to operate to close it. To top it all, the babies mother was readmitted back to hospital this morning after having 3 epileptic fits. They will do a EEG first thing Monday morning. I am wondering if has been triggered off by the ceaserarian birth and also stress about the baby? She has had 1 fit before when she had a bout of flu. Also does anyone have a child born with a hole in the heart that closed on its own, or did they have surgery. Please let me know about children you know with this problem.

Please know that I'm not saying that this is what will happen to your brothers stepdaghuters baby, and I'm not trying to scare you. I'm just being honest about what I know. I know of a child that was born with a hole in his heart and he ended up having 8 surgeries to try to fix it. He ended up dying during the last surgery because of hemmoraging. As far as I know, surgery is the only way to fix this problem, but maybe I'm wrong and it will fix itself.
