how do you make referrals?

I only have one referrals. I hardly convince or find some. what method/methods do you use? maybe you can share to me so that i can too.

its hard to get referrals, and its hard to get them to stay active. No one believes the free pay thats what it is. I dont know how to get anyone convinced. Usually i just invite my friends and family. Thats the only people i know who would join and believe me.
