Children's Novel

Okay, so I have an idea and a novel that's roughly 1/3 completed. Because it's a children's novel, I can see the end in sight, probably within the next 2 weeks (I write every day and usually 1-2 pages or hours, depending on the time I have) and I want to submit it for publication. My questions are: What are the better children's lit publication companies? Is self-publishing "bad" (I've heard some things, that's another post) and how many companies do you recommend submitting the story to? Thanks for your response.
