Oh My Ears are Ringing...... ting ding a ling

Anyone else have tinnitus? or constant ringing in the ears?Somedays are much louder than others, and much more distracting. I think it'd like to drive me insane if I let it! other days it is more in the background and I can ignore it for the most part.
Playing classical music with headphones on seems to help disguise the annoyance, but is not very practical as a housewife and mother.
What do you do to relieve yourself of the ringing? what do you think causes it? I've heard that aspirin use can, as well as food poisoning.

my brother has this-his started from a head injury
he's had it over 20 years now.
you appearently get used to it after awhile and subconciously tune it out for the most part,from what he says.but he does turn up things louder sometimes to silence it a bit.
there's supposed to be a new medication for it,but i'm not sure how well it works.

that could be-his was a base of the skull injury.
he had also gone blind for 24 hours..i'm guessing the swelling pressed on and damaged something.
