This super piece of equipment is a delight to work with as most muscles of the body can be targeted using the ball. Adding other pieces of equipment like dumbbells can further increase the intensity or provide a new range of exercises. Stability balls are available at most sports shop. The Reebok ball is a good sturdy one. When buying a ball (Rs 1,000-12,000) you must be careful about getting the right size for your height. Test the size by sitting on a well-inflated ball. Your knees and hips should be in a straight line parallel to the floor. If the knees are higher, the ball is too small and vice versa. Once you buy the ball, pump it up until it is nice and taut. Cardio workouts with this ball are fun, but it is best to do this at a professional class. At home, use it for muscles toning and strengthening exercises. Some of you may find the ball rather daunting simply because it is an unstable surface and you fear you will fall off. The instability of the ball is what makes the exercise more difficult. You have to stabilise your body and simultaneously perform the exercise. It does take a while to get used to the ball. Practice often and once you are comfortable you will love working with the ball. Do you know other methods too?
