I have a cat that cries everytime one side of her food bowl is empty...Yet, she has 2 sides!!! - She cries and cries until we fill up the 2nd side. I am worried about her because she is really obese. She is a stay inside cat, so I try and play with her to give her some exercise, but all she wants to do is eat. I tried the lite food, but she still eats too much. Anybody have some ideas how I can fix this??? Thanks in advance.

You need to give her only a set amount of food every day. You don't want her to lose weight too quickly, because this can harm her health, but you must start decreasing the amount of food she eats over time. I would put aside a container each morning with the total amount of food she should have for the day. Put some in her bowl to start with (and maybe switch to a small single bowl, which won't hold as much) and refill it at regular times each day. My cat is a bit of a pig, too, but he is now used to getting fed only 3 times a day (morning, after we get home from work and before I go to bed). She will probably fuss and complain, just like anyone on a forced diet, but she will adjust after awhile. Be strong!

I had a cat like that, who was huge, he weighed about 25 pounds. Try filling up the empty side from the full side, get a smaller bowl, or get a single bowl. You should also try some of the diet food, and to force your lazy kitty to get exercise. i cheated and got a second cat, a kitten who used the cat as a toy and got hinm chasing the kitten throughout the house.

I have a cat like that. She is active on lite food, and wants to eat and eat. It is very dangerous for a cat to get fat. They will get diabetes. So, you must let it cry. Only feed it the amount of food that the bag says to feed. But, make sure she is getting a quality food. Check with the vet that she doesn't have parisites, to make her so hungry. Good luck dear.

No, but I once had a cat that was so fat he couldn't jump up onto the table to reach his cat food. The cats I have now are normal weight, but I wish they would eat more because maybe then they wouldn't do so much bird hunting.

oh yea,my cat's obese. 34.5 pounds. he was recently put on a diet food for adult overweight cats, but i haven't seen any change yet. i would say maybe she has worms if she's constantly hungry, but if indoor only, not likely. if she's not the only cat,you may have to separate their eating areas.my cat was stealing from the other 4,i put a stop to it.
