Learning For Life...What Have You Learned?

I grew up with my father's mantra..."Learn something new everyday." Everyday he would ask me what I had learned, and if I didn't have an answer for him, I got punished. The philosophy stuck though and now I make an effort to learn something, even if it is small, every day. My question to you is do you learn something new everyday? What did you learn today or what was the last thing you learned?

Hi creativedreamweaver my friend :) I have learned that if you are going to quit smoking and you have a 9 month old who yaps and yaps and yaps it might be a good idea to have some Tylenol on hand. The headaches from quitting smoking 4 days ago and from my daughters loudness are getting unbearable! So I'm heading out the dorr soon to go get some tylenol. Have a great day!

Oh man. I am so sorry for you my friend. I smoke and have tried quitting several times, so I know how tough that can be. Good job for hanging in there. You can do it. Remember to do nice things for yourself everyday to reward yourself for your progress. Nicotine withdrawl will also give you a headache, just so you know that it isn't just your precious daughter, lol. When you go get the tylenol, pick her up a little something too (a little toy or whatever), it may help keep her quiet a bit. Bless you hon. You are doing great. I am here for support if and when you need it.

Thanks so much for the kind words sweetie! I did say in my post that if your going to quit smoking and have a yappy daughter so I didn't just blame her. Honestly she is nothing compared to the headache from lack of nicotine! This is day 4 though so the nicotine should just about be out of my system and I should start feeling "normal" soon hopefully. I did a posting for a quitting smoking support group as none else has started one so I hope that will help too. I have good motivations, I want to be healthier, and I am keeping a positive attitude so I'm crossing my fingers that I stay quit this time.

A postive attitude and will are 80% of the battle. It actually takes 7 days for all the nicotine to get out of your system, but it gets easier every day from here on. Oh hon, I know you weren't blaming your little one, I was just trying to offer some support. I hope the support discussion helps you as well. You're doing wonderful.

I try to learn something new everyday as well. I think that if everyone tried to learn something new everyday then there would be less dumb people in this world.
Today I have learned a lot of new things about myLot and and very glad to have learned a lot of that from you creativedreamweaver.
Thank you.

You are so sweet. Thank you very much for the warm compliment. I really appreciate it. Anytime I can help. I agree, if everyone learned something everyday the world would be a much better place. There wouldn't be near the amount of ignorant folks running around. LOL You are a + in my book reipowerhouse, my new friend.

Lately i've been taking that message to extremes. I've learnt so much in the last few days that i'm not convinced my brain will take anymore. Of course if i had learnt all this stuff when i was supposed to then i guess i wouldn't have to be learning it all now, just days before my exams start, but i was busy.
The last thing i learnt today was the governing equation for calculating drawdown from pumping within an unconfined, unsteady flow aquifer. s=(Q/4piT) W(u)

That's awesome...even though I'm not sure what exactly it means, lol. I don't have much of a scientific brain. Have you gone back to school? Actually your brain is the best computer around, it will keep storing all the information you learn. Then when it need it it will come to you. Fantastic. Kudos for you and keep up the great work. Thank you for your response, I appreciate it very much.

Creativedreamwearver, I have rated you another + for a fine posting. I think that I learn something almost daily. The biggest thing I learned, is not to take life for granted. Count our blessings of what we have, not what we don't have. We only have the moment, so live and enjoy it to the fullest. Tomorrow may or may not come.

Amen to that. I try to count my blessings each day. I agree, we shouldn't waste our time, because we don't know if we will get a renewal or not. As always you are plusses in book Margieanne. I love your posts and responses.

Hey, that counts as learning, and I'm sure that you are retaining the information, or you wouldn't still be on the puter, right? You are great Lakota. I always love your responses. Thank you.

LOL, that is a great way to look at it. I do learn more from just everyday activities and the people I come in contact with, than anything else. It's wonderful. Thank you for your reply, as always, it is greatly appreciated.

i agree with your father's philosophy. I feel it is the duty of us all to learn something every day and that this should be a life-long process.
As for today, yes I have learnt that if I post a few quality discussions on mylot and litter my work here liberally with pictures, my earnings increase even if my star ratings fall. Odd I thought, but thus it goes.
I also feel that we should live each day as if it is our last, for one day it surely will be
blessed be

Ahh, meme, my friend. You are so philosophical sometimes. That is a great thing to learn. There are many lessons to be learned throughout the course of a day. Bless you and as always +++ back at ya.

I have learned really how powerful the mind is lately. I have learned that when I allow negative thoughts come into my mind and I don't let go of them right away they then control the way my day goes. I have noticed that if I am feeling upset for more then five minutes then I allow negative feelings to have the next five.
I have learned that I can not control what other people think of me and my actions. I have learned that what other people think of my is "non of my business!! "( I love that saying) I have learned that I have to teach people how to treat me or else they will treat me any ol way. I have learned that I am wonderful and I am going to scream it from the roof times. I have come to learn that I am a whole, perfect, strong, powerful, harmonious, mater of my thoughts, grateful, and happy person. And that is a lesson that I am not going to give up for anything. I have learned that others have to find what I have found for themselves.
I have learned that happiness, success, and wealth is a state of mind. I have learned not to measure my happiness, success, and wealth by the things that i have collect, but by the way those things make me feel when I see them.
Life is a serious of lessons, Some you learn sooner then later, but they are all important. You can not learn anyone else's lessons. Everyone has a road that they must travel. Just know that you never travel that road Alone. The Lord is right by your side. I am learning my lessons every single day. I Am a student of the wonderful things that life has to offer. I am grateful for all the good things that come to me.
Be Blessed and Always Be Grateful

That is neat. It doesn't have to be something life altering, but just to have learned. You learned a little more about a friend. Whom did they meet, just out of curiousity? Thank you for sharing what you learned.

I learned too much this week end and my brain is overflowing. I took a course on Cranial Sacral Manipulation. I was so tired Friday night. I flopped into bed at 8:00 pm and did not get out of bed untill 10:00am the next morning.
It is great to try and keep learning all the time.

I do learn somethin' new every day heh ^_^ I love learning..you never see me without a book and I'm usually researching whenever I'm online!Hehe
Today I learned that I really am crazy, but usually mostly for those I care about. And that there are really no limits to what I do for them.
Don't say aw that's sweet, because this may not actually be a good thing lol.

well thats cool "learn something new everyday." life is a learning process nobody is an expert when it comes to life. maybe i learned something new everyday but wasnt that aware. some new words, new answers to my problems, new people to interact. and having kids i always learn something new really and a lot from growing children. and by this discussion i will now take extra time to think before i sleep what did i learn something new today. thanks
