What would you do if you heard a burglar in your house?

Fortunately, I have a dog that would alert me to this by her barking and growling. She is only a Jack Russell, but she is fearless! I keep my extra car keys with the remote on my nightstand. Someone once told me if there is a someone breaking in to my house, to press the panic button on the keys. My car will start going off and hopefully chase the intruder away. He may get confused and think it is an alarm on the house. Other than that, I would probably grab a my Clorox Clean Up and use it to spray at the burglars eyes to blind him. I think that would work. Think I will keep my cell phone on the nightstand, also, then my partner could call 911 while I am "cleaning" the burglar. God Bless

lol! on the cleaning of the burglar. Good ideas though. I have often thought about what I would do, as I have two small children. How hard it would be to get out of the house. And what I should do. It is difficult, as you have to protect yourself and your children, and try to hide and keep a 3year old and a baby quiet wouldnt work. Thanks for the response.

I would grab my cell phone and head into my kids room and lock the door. Probably push the dresser up against the door as well. I would go into my kids room to make sure I could protect them. I would then call 911. My husband might go out and try to catch the burglar because my husband is just that type of person. i would beg him not to go, that it is dangerous, but he probably would anyway. I am a 911 dispatcher, so I know if I call 911 it is the best way to go about handling the situation.

Most definitely grab the phone, call the cops, and lock me and my son in the bedroom until help arrived. Even though I think I'm strong, I'm not going to put myself in a position where I may end up doing more harm than good. If my hubby was home, then that burglar better watch out, cause I know he will not hide with the rest of us.

I have dogs so would hope I would have enough of a warning that I would be able to get the family out. I know dogs can be gotten through, so they are intended as more of an early warning system and I know they would put up a good fight. I would fight as well, to give my children time to get out. They know that is what they are supposed to do, get out, and go get help. They understand the whys behind it so I would only hope they wouldn't manic, and would do what I have told them to do if it came down to it. Recently I came home and my front door was ajar, and last month it was the same but it was my back door. Both times I wondered if someone had been in, but in neither instance was that the case, thank god, one of us just hadn't shut it properly.
