This is a 'little' late for those of you not on the West Coast but all is not lost.
First of all, this is an amazing documentry on our Planet and it was filmed over the course of 5 years. It shows this world in a way never before seen. It will run for 5 weeks. It's an 11-part series and it started tonight at 8pm on The Discovery Channel.
It will be on each Sunday for 5 weeks ending on Earth Day.
I saw a preview of it on Oprah a month or so ago and was so in awe of it that I put it on my calendar back then and have been anxiously awaiting tonight's show. It starts in about 10 minutes for me.
This is a show that ALL humans on this earth should watch. We may never again see our Planet this way again. With the threat of global warming and a number of other things, some of the things this series will show won't be around for our children and grandchildren to witness.
If you want more information on it, go to http://dsc.discovery.com/convergence/planet-earth/planet-earth.html
If you missed it tonight, you can still see the next 4 shows and maybe even find someone that taped tonight show to let you borrow. I'm sure it will be placed on DVD as well, I can't imagine it not being available down the road in that format.
If you watched tonight, please share what your opinion of it was.
Enjoy!

I have watched every episode so far. What amazing cinemaphotography. I personally love watching animal videos as it is - but this is by far one of the best I've seen.

Thanks for the response! For some reason, I thought it was new - at least that is how they made it sound on Oprah. It's been on twice now and I really like it. I'm not sure I'd want to visit some of those places - the weather is very extreme and harsh but if I could personally fly, I'd love to be able to fly over and see some of the wonders of the world with my own eyes. The animals are amazing too! I'm not sure how anyone could watch this program and still say all of this is a result of two atoms colliding many eons ago. I guess they could say the same to me in regards to God but this world is far too detailed and amazing to have not been created by something much larger than ourselves or two atoms.
Sorry, didn't mean to go on a religious rant. :]
I've come to find out that this show is being re-ran each Sunday morning of the following week so if anyone missed it, they can still catch it. It's really quite breath-taking but also sad to think that this world is changing in so many ways and alot of what is shown will be gone or forever changed in the near future.

I just wanted to update again..
If anyone missed this, you really missed out on a great program!
It was beautiful, breath-taking, amazing, gorgeous and sad all rolled into one.
It made me want to improve my life in ways that will help the environment and world because after seeing all those animals that are affected by our decisions, it's clear that we need to make some major changes or risk losing so many of them in the process.
You can get it on DVD though, I think they said it was around $11 or $12 for the whole 11 series set. My husband wants to buy it.
If you do buy it - pay attention to the story on the polar bear. That story alone should make everyone in this world want to make a change - even if it's just a little change for now.
Wonderful series and I'm glad we watched it every week. It became a little tradition for us to gather around the TV every Sunday at 8pm. I'm going to miss that.
