DishDash and Abaya

Well i live in an arab country and even though it is very westernizes i am witness to arab clothing every day, i have actually bought my self the male clothing called a dish dash, it comes in multiple colors and is typically white. It originated from long ago and when thinking about it, it was smart that it was white as this would then not absob all the sun rays which were typical in the desert. What got me thinking was the fact of the female clothing, again this can come in any color but most often it is black? Why is this so? i mean wouldnt they begin to turn burning hot. I know the female clothing called an ,abaya, is also used to be conservative but why black. I have lived in an arab for 10 years and only know thought about it. cheers Plunt
