Purple Martin Houses

Purple Martin House - So many unique styles - they make you think of miniature architectures. Do you have a purple martin house on your property? how long before a colony established itself?

I have always been attracted to the architecture of people's Purple Martin Houses. I would like one in my own yard. I do not believe I have ever seen a purple martin here though. Is all I have to do is build a purple martin apartment and they will somehow come? how do you introduce them to your property?

My husband made me a beautiful one for Christmas. I will have to ask him if he will share the instructions. He kept it hid in the garage and I was not allowed in the garage for a couple months while he was making his Christmas gifts. It is huge and beautiful. It has schingles on it to match our home and garage. Purple martins will eat the fleas out of your yard so that problem is gone.

Did the house attract the Martins to come to your property? do you have a colony established yet or is it too early in the year yet for that?
