Unless you are on a doctor recommended regimen, then you have to go slow and work up to a decent exercise program. Having just quit smoking you may find breathing difficult. Start with five minutes a day, and when you feel good about that, no heavy breathing or undue fatigue then go to ten minutes a day. when you are comfortable with that try 15 or 20 minutes every other day. Gradually work yourself to a 30 minute regimen at least 3 times a week. Take your time and make sure you can handle each stage. It takes times for results to show, so don't be discouraged by no physical evidence of results. Good luck to you and stay off the smokes...:}

Completely agree with you. The first thing to do before start any training program is to visit a doctor.

If you go to slow you will never get up to the necessary exercise regimen and you will become discouraged because nothing appears to be happening.

I suggest you to go to a Doctor. None other than a doctor can suggest you correctly about the amount of exercise, you should do daily. Also don't over-exercise, because it can be harmful for you. Just do that amount, that keeps you comfortable, with an adequate amount of sweating.

I would start out slow and work up to goals. Find what you like to do then keep increasing your stamina at it until you feel comfortable and ready to increase the pace. It really isnt a matter of time but the amount of work you do in that time. It is all about caloric burn to lose weight but exercise will make you healthier as well.
