Bee Keeping Beekeepers

Beekeepers - a brave hobby with very sweet rewards. Wouldn't you like to make your own beeswax candles and honey from bees you've raised yourself? I think that would be so interesting and fulfilling. They say also that if you eat honey grown from bees in your own local you will get a natural remedy against allergies in your area.

Do any of you raise bees for honey and wax? how big is your operation? do you sale your products or just use for personal needs? is it terribly difficult to get started up? have the africanized bees affected your hives at all?

I have 2 brothers and an Uncle that raise bees. They rob them and family gets the honey. they never sell it as we have too many family members. I use honey alot for making homemade sugar scrub and for baking as well. We love using honey that we know what is in it. My brothers have about 20 hives total and i dont know how many my Uncle has. They have been getting hit with the bee thing that is killing all the bees lately

I am starting this year to keep bees. I do believe that it is a mountain that we can create to our self. If everybody would say its hard, you wouldn't see any beekeepers around.
