They already stopped the layaways, now they feel the only reasonably priced fabric dept around is not worth their keeping it. Please read the link below!
Please sign the following petition to save the Wal-Mart fabric departments, if you use them at all. They've already eliminated them in some stores. I know there are some like me, where it's the only place to get sewing stuff within 25 miles.

I know it is so frustrating. I came from a small town and there are several older people apartments there and they go to wal-mart once a week when the bus comes around. They buy lots of fabric because they make lots of quilts. I don't know what they will do.

That is not good, a lot of people depend on the stuff they have there. That is where my son's bedspread came from, I bought a big piece for the middle, then added around it until it was the right size. I could not have afforded it at Joanne's.
It sounds like it might be a small business opportunity for someone in the area. Unfortunately you can't give the WM price because you can not buy in quantity like they can.

It is sad, all the local goes out of business because Walmart beats them and then they decide to quit carrying things and then you have to travel to get it. That is so sad. I know that there aren't as many people sewing as there used to be but there are still alot and if they do away with it, there will be no place here either.
