Where to retire?

My husband wants to retire to a small, quite place in Wales. I have always wanted to move to Devon when I retire. These places are not next to each other so we always joked we would live apart. Should we compromise and live somewhere inbetween but that means that neither of us would have want we wanted?

Retirement is the best time for husband and wife to come together and do things together. That's what my wife and I do. We still have to live in the city because of our business. Much though, we wish we could retire happily to the countryside and enjoy the fresh morning air and the grassy and mountain views. It's not going to happen this year but our dreams goes on until fulfillment.

I wonder where is everyone in this category of interest. Has everyone here retired or move on to other interests? Well, I am still here and will keep on posting here. Hope that more people would come on board in this interest.
After all, there are so many of us baby boomers.

Perhaps others have a group with a slightly different title. It is difficult to find things sometimes.

Sounds great. Without wishing my life away, I can't wait.

That would be great. I would like to move near to the sea but feel that warm will probably not be practical. I did wonder about joining the 'retire to Spain' brigade but feel happiest back in jolly olde England.

Well, instead of being torn apart with each of your individual desires, how about compromising to live in a place both like. It can be by the beach, the hilltop or even in the city. Think about it. There has got to be a place agreeable to both parties.

right i say that you both reconsider and move to somewhere tropical. they are amazing places out there and cheao and amazing life styles. on the other hand you always need to please your women so its always best to do what she want, im sure you will get a high return from it. hope all goes well and that you manage to come to some conclusion
cheers

The big question is ..do you have to go anywhere when you retire?why cant you stay as you are,or has it been a lifelong ambition to move on retirement?.I just naively thought that we will retire and all that will e missing is the work, but we will see a lot more of each other!but lol maybe that sounds a little to uncomplicated now.

I visited a place, very hot at times, yet very beautiful. The place is Seychelles. Wonderful beaches, basically a collection of islands. Cool part is most of the islands are unchanged as there are regulations in place to keep them free of man made creations.
Plus the people are real nice. Ocean swimming all day long. That's how I would love to retire.
