Celebration!!! Even if I don't understand it.

I've finished filing our income tax forms, both federal and state! I think I will use it as a cause for celebration. Why is it so complex?
I hate doing them, even though I have a computer program that makes it understandabile. It is time consuming to sort out all the receipts, etc., get all the paperwork together.
But I must admit that have the computer do it makes it lots easier. All I have to do is answer the questions the program asks me. Except for one form required related to a business we own. The partnership tax paperwork is rediculous for such a small business. The form itself is only four pages. But the directions are sixteen pages! And then I don't understand the directions completely. I got help one year and now just each year I do the same thing they did. Still don't understand it, however. :-) Guess as long as it is done the government doesn't care if you understand.
Why does it have to be so complex. Why can't we all just take a specific percentage of our gross income and send it in? And why can't we all take the same percentage? Why do some folks pay a larger percent than others. If we all paid the same percent, the richer folk would pay more taxes than the poorer folk, but it would be all the same percent. The way it is now, the richer folk often pay much less than the poorer!
I don't mind paying taxes. I think we probably pay less than many smaller countries. But I would like to see it be more fair.
Any suggestions?

Well, I guess I wouldn't want to have all the accountance out of work! :-)
Do you suppose they really understand all that stuff? Or do they just know what numbers to put where? The whole tiered tax system is baffling.

I believe they no what the numbers really are.. accounting is very hard.. it's not just addition or multiplication.. it involves a lot analyzation!

I would love to see tax-paying become more fair.
Here is the man that can get that job done:

Too bad the major networks only want to talk about Hillary, Obama, Edwards & Guiliani (sp?). Ron Paul is for the people, he's been in Congress fighting for the people for 30 years or more.
I agree it's time for fairness in taxing.
