I'm listening to a book called "Refex" - sorry - don't remember the writer. I love hearing great lines, lines that stick with you - lines you would love to be able to use yourself - if you could. The one I heard, I've heard before, but never done so well. It is: "Its bad enough to be a paranoid schisphernic but then you have people coming after you." Not sure thats quite right, but its like that

The best line I have read so far is this: "Pain is beautiful when we can rise from its depressing power."

There's another one I like along these lines but it's from a Dag Nasty song: "Pain is necessary to grind the edges from our mind, our minds" I love that.

I think that one of the best lines I have read by a book is "Tale of Two Cities". It begins "It was the best of times:It was the worst of times".

I will gove you some of the lines I like. Thanks for starting a great discussion! Fate is like a strange, unpopular restaurant, filled with odd waiters who bring you things you never asked for and don't always like. - Lemony Snicket 'And I, of course, am innocent of all but malice.' - Fiona, Sign of the Unicorn, by Roger Zelazny All animals are equal, but some are more equal than others. - Animal Farm, George Orwell Don't try to out-weird me, three eyes. I get weirder things than you in my breakfast cereal. - Zaphod Beeblebrox, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galazy God kills, and so shall we indiscriminately He takes the richest and the poorest, and so shall we. For no creatures under God are as we are, none so like Him as ourselves. - Lestat, Interview With The Vampire, Anne Rice. Her imagination was by habit ridiculously active when the door was not open, it jumped out of the window. - Henry James, Portrait of a Lady. Just because you have a mind like a hammer doesn't mean you should treat everyone else like a nail - Terry Pratchett, Only You Can Save Mankind We are all blind. The miser is blind he sees gold, but does not see true riches. The prodigal is blind he sees the beginning, but not the end. The coquette is blind she does not see her own wrinkles. The learned is blind he does not see his own ignorance. The honest man is blind he does not see the thief. The thief is blind he does not see God. God is blind the day he created the world, he did not see the devil manage to creep into it. I myself am blind I speak and do not see that you are blind. - Victor Hugo, 'The Man Who Laughed' Sorry I got so carried away with myself! That was fun!

I love your response, Wood, I even recognize a number of them! But that one by Victor Hugo is really a well thought out quote!

You may have noticed I have a penchant for the science fiction, too.
