Jake, He is Such a Good Old Dog!!

Jake and Kids - This is a picture I took this afternoon of Amanda, Stuart and Jake. Jake loves for you to come to the fence and give him a pet. A lot of times he will sit there waiting for you to come see him and he looks as though he is grinning! Wilbur decided he would come along and get into the picture as an after thought!!
Ha! Ha!

I started a discussion earlier about our cat Wilbur and now I thought I would tell you about our dog Jake. We have actually had Jake a lot longer than Wilbur. He is the second dog we have ever had and has lived a lot longer than our first one. We got Jake on Christmas Eve of 1996. It was a really heart warming but funny story about the way he was given to us. We had a rental house and the couple who was renting from us asked us if we wanted a puppy for our kids. I talked to my husband and he was okay with it so we agreed. They said they would bring the puppy on Christmas Eve. My son was still fairly small and not sure on what to do with a puppy but my daughter really wanted one. So I told the couple to give it to her when they brought it. When they came in my daughter came into the room full of curiosity. They brought Jake in down inside a brown paper bag like people carry their lunch in (he was pretty small. She took the bag cautiously and I told her it all right to go ahead and open it. She nearly droppd the bag when Jake started moving around and her eyes got as bag as a half dollar!! Then she opened it up and looked inside then squealed and said "It is a puppy!!"She took him out and let him walk around the living room and then he walked over to where she was standing, climbed on her shoe and sat down, Ha! Ha! It was so sweet and funny at the same time!!A few weeks later Amanda and Stuart were outside on our deck playing with some other kids. I went outside to check on them and I saw Stuart sitting in one of those little cars that kids could go around in. I went over to make sure he was okay and Jake had crawled up in his lap, curled up and went to sleep. Stuart, maybe four years old at the time, was grinning from ear to ear!! I would have given anything if I had had my camera with me at that moment!!I hope I'm not boring anyone with these stories of our animals. My kids love them and that makes me love them too because what is important to my kids is important to me. God Bless and Have a Wonderful Day!1

Indeed they are. I feel like if you are going to have an animal you need to take good care of it. We love all our animals and treat them as part of our family.

No, you're not boring me! I love stories like this one. They are heartwarming. I remember when I had my dog Leno (had him for 7 years before he was stolen, took his name and changed it to name one of my current dogs Leon), the first time he saw my sister was when I put him in my purse. She was at school, teaching, so I couldn't just bring the dog in without hiding it, so I put him in my purse. She got the surprise of her life! Her class went wild over him. He was so small that he fit in the palm of my hand!
