Swedish couple names baby Metallica. Now they cannot leave the country! The parents had to cancel trips abroad because they can't get their daughter a passport without an approved name. The tax authority does not approve of the name. What do you think?

I always thought what was on your birth certificate was legal and so was accepted no matter how ridiculous the name was? What about these idiot celebs who have named their kids Moon Unit, Apple, Peaches, Fifi Trixabelle. Are they unable to leave their homeland too? This sounds quite odd to me.

Parents should have the right to name their children whatever they want, as lon as it's not outright offensive and government athorities should stay out of such personal matters. True, parents should have the good sense not to give their children names that other kids will make fun of, but many do not, and the children have to put up with it. They can always change their name when they get older, and hopefully the parents will be good parents in other ways.

I would never name my child metallica, but I support the right for each person to choose.
