Wow Roseanne went off a long time ago. But I was very disappointed with the last season. It made no sense and it was stupid. The finalle was a copout. The appeal behind Rosanne is that it is a poor, struggling "white trash" family that was struggling to make it. They ruined the show when they made Dan have a mid-life crisis and supposedly fall in love with another woman even though he did come back. And when they had the Connor family win the lottery. The epsiodes after that were just ridiculous. The reason so many people liked Roseanne is because they could relate to the show. A family working a crappy job and a crappy boss, taking care of 3 ungrateful kids. When they removed that element from the series it just went downhill. And seriously the finale was just stupid and badly written.

You are absolutely right. The last season was so far removed from the others that it was almost creepy. I mean, Dan had always been the level headed good guy that balanced Roseanne's insanity and then all of a sudden he is off having an affair with his mother's nurse.
Darlene giving birth was creepy also. Even her marriage to David was creepy. And who was that chick D.J. was seeing. Why did they win the lottery, but seemed to stay in the same house. Why did the mom all of a sudden turn gay? There were way too many changes in that last season. It was like they were making a desperate attempt to liven up the show and stay on.
I have purchased the first season and watched it til I am sick of it. I wont purchase the last one, nor do I want the one where they had replaced becky. I never really understood what that was about. But in this case, as in most, the original was best.

It's been many years since Roseanne went off the air but yes, I did feel cheated by the way the series ended. It came across as something that had been hastily written and put together to tie up loose ends but I really didn't like it and it was definitely not in keeping with the rest of series and previous episodes which was a shame as it was a pretty good show for years. It didn't so much go out with a bang as it did go out with a little whimper!
