a friend of mine was being treated over the winter for what they call "winter depression",where they give you a light box to use in your house, and in her case a vitamin D suppliment. while i love grey sky days personally (gloomy,or even drizzly), i have noticed some are lethargic/depressed. do you find yourself slow, and more tired in winter/rainy days?

Sure thing! This is literally the atmosphere. If it is a gloomy sky, I would probably feel sad and mope a little (lol). If it is bright, I may become more cheerful. :P

Now here is something odd.... I find that dull days I am so much more alive, and the night I am the same....in the Summertime, I really hate it as it makes me feel ill, I suffer serious headaches and sickness. I wish there was something I could do about this as it means for a lot of the Summer I have to stay indoors...I have wondered if it was the opposite to the "Winter depression" (it's proper term is Season Affective Disorder...or, ironically, SAD), if that can actually happen.

I spoke to a doctor about this and without a second's thought she said there was no such thing and there never EVER be such a thing...but there again she said I had no problem with my memory and was proved wrong.

i would imagine the reverse is definetly possible. i get headaches sometimes when it's really, really humid.when it's just warm,i'm okay though.

I have noticed some people are really affected with light! Mostly when slip: If we consider sunlight then it has some time relavance with our different kind of moodwaves because it is affecting our body chemicals as well as our moodwaves! This is a natural phinomina and humans are aware about that too! Though some people are able to tackle this issue with their mental and vital capacity and go ahead with their self treatment!

Is that the same as SAD - sunshine affecive disorder. I think I might have a mild case of that. I hate the dark winter months and would rather hibernate. I love it now we have reached spring and it is light, light, light. I feel so much better in myself.

Yes, light most definitely affects my mood! During the winter months, when it's dark out in the morning, I can barely find the strength to drag myself out of bed to get ready for work. The opposite is true in the summer, when it's light out. I find that I can pretty much spring up out of bed with a smile on my face, well, most of the time, anyway. :) While I enjoy a good bit of gloom, it can bring me down.

I live in Ireland where it is often gray and drizzly and overcast. We don't get much of a summer to speak of and I think it is true, that they light can effect people's moods. We have recently had a burst of really good weather and people seem much more cheerful and are out and enjoying it with their families.

You know what is crazy? i am the exact opposite. i find myself even more depressed on sunny das and usually feel better on "gloomy" days. The odd thing is, i have a Vitamin D defficiency because i don't like to spend time in the sun. i actually use a prasol in the sun so i don't have to deal with it. However, i feel better on those dark, drab days. Strange, isn't it?

My mood will be affeted much by light. In the summer time, i can still see the sunlight when i finished working, i feel alright when i am walking back home alone. But as the winter is approaching now, when i finish working, teh sun had set already and there are no mnay street lamps along the street, I feel alone and depressed when I am walking back home. The feeling is much different even I am passing the same road.

i can understand that. a lot of jobs that i had on the nightshift though? i actually kind of liked watching the sun come up through the window at work.i usually went to bed as soon as i got home,but..there was just something cool about it.

Actually I seem to have more energy in the colder months, and am very lethargic in the summer, but then I've never been a hot/humid weather person...as far as gloomy, rainy days...not really...but I do have to admit I do prefer the sun...
