Sally Field I am Not.

I'm sure many people are familiar with Sally Fields acceptance speach where she declared; "you like me, you really like me". Well I am not her obviously. I keep watching my rating/reputation go up and down. It was at 87/100 yesterday and today it is back down to 86/100. I really wish I knew what I was saying to upset people enough that they are rating me negatively. If you know could you tell me please?

The Moving question mark - Question Mark!!!
I'm also at a loss and frankly, surely I've stopped trying to figure it out. I went from 10 so 95/100 then to 94/100 then nosedived to 91/100 in a matter of 2 days. So someone had their hand on the negative button - or so me thinks? And I thought my posting had increased yet it's taking so long to climb back up and this is puzzling. I know those who like me, and I have no idea who doesn't - isn't that the way!

3 points isn't much of a nose dive. Mine nose dived by 9 points between today and yesterday and I only posted a couple of comments. Nothing that would have upset anyone; so I don't know why the drop.

I wouldn't worry about it, maildumpster. We do not know exactly how myLot calculates the myLot reputation rating. We do know the "+" and "-" ratings form part of the formula but we do not know what else counts. Maybe the variation has nothing to do with negative ratings. It could be that a percentage of positive ratings to responses could be used, or any number of other criteria. I know the negative rating is abused by some people. In fact, some members have openly stated they negatively rate. I believe, as do many other members, that the negative rating should be abolished - unless, as in the case of the "!" a new window required details for the negative rating. That would stop a lot of the abuse, but I still think it should be abolished altogether. If we feel the response is wrong in some way, such as personal abuse, we can report it. Don't be concerned about your rating. Just keep posting quality discussions and responses, and we will rate you positively when we read them.

I don't care too much but am just curious as to what is happening. My points dropped by 9 in a day and I didn't even post anything much at all. Maybe twice yesterday and they weren't anything controversial. Sigh ... just I will never know why my star keeps dropping. I was happy cause it was slowly climbing up and now suddenly it drops by 9 in a day!

I understand exactly how you feel. One thing nice about the blogs and news being added. I hope it leads to people focusing on the article at hand and not on getting back at those they don't agree with.

I haven't checked out the blogs but I don't think they are helping me any. I have been one for meer moments in the last few days and my reputation points dropped by 9 since yesterday. I know I didn't tick anyone off yesterday; so I don't know what is going on.

I tend not to give negatives either unless they are violating terms OR if they answer with some total crud that has nothing to do with what I posted. Thanks for your reply.

I don't know how this could be happening to you. I have always found your discussions and responses to be great. Some people are just really petty and will give you a negative just for disagreeing with them. Just keep doing what you are doing and your rating will take care of itself.

From the answers you have gotten, it sounds like everybody is going down! I know I was a 10 for a day, but am back to where I started. I guess I won't worry too much about it, since I can't do anything about it. It does kinda drive you crazy, tho, doesn't it? It is hard to understand how you could get so many negative ratings as to drop 9 points. I just can't see it myself! Must be the "algorhithims" (Spelling?) Is it a full moon?
