Life expectancy of hamsters / myLot

Our little dwarf hamster died at the age of 4yrs. He died of old age. Even the vet was quite shocked at his age. Have you had a hamster that lived so long. The hamsters we have had died between 18mths and 2yrs.

my hamsters usally live between 4-5 years but the normal is 2-3 years. they make great pets but they just dont last long enough. i cry every time we lose one and they are the kids pets. i know it is going to happen but i get so attached to them. the sweet cuddley furry things. my peanutbutter is running and scratching ont eh cage now wanting to be held. lol. that and she smells dinner and knows she will get a bite. lol
