The Internet is about to get more expensive, without justification some believe. VeriSign, the company that manages both .com and .net domain name registration, will be increased from 15th October' 2007. The registry fee for domain names effectively the wholesale price -- will rise from $6 to $6.42 for .com names and from $3.50 to $3.85 for .net names. Guys.... what you feel about this issue. Many feel that "VeriSign" is not justified applying this increase. What do you people feel about this increase. Is the increase justified. Friends....... if you are planning to start a website in the near future please register your Domain name before 15th October......

You should try to understand the reason behind verisign doing it. I feel that they have a good knowledge about the market and they must have anticipated that there will be a rise in the demand.

I have not considered yet getting a domain name because I am starting with free hosting on blogger.com. But I will look into that in the future if I want to set up a website to sell stuff. I'm new to this and I don't know how it works. Do you pay your domain name only once for $6.42 or do you have to pay every month that amount? Thank you for the information kukkad. I will have to register before October 15th, 2007. I will keep this date in mind. I guess everybody is increasing their cost lately. I started selling some stuff on eBay and I got an email that USPS and UPS are going to increase their fees soon for both domestic and international shipping. Good news heh? And I would guess eBay is going to increase their fees too lol Thanks kukkad for sharing this information.

Sweetie..... the minimum term that you can register a domain name for is 1 year....... and the max I think is 9 years. And, whatever term you choose...... you have to pay the whole amount in full........ no monthly charges. I register my domain names with GoDaddy.com and have a nice "Promo Code" for it......... If you ever want to register a domain name........ do let me know

There is one signal that this occurrence is sending to its users, which is, that business is doing good. People in the business sector always do this, while still new in the market, they keep their prices as low as it can get. Then, once the market picks up, slowly, they will increase their prices. Thank you, though for this information. Those who are planning of getting in there are made aware of this development.

Well looking at that its alot less percentage wise the gas hike we felt over the past couple of months. But on the other hand with all the world as their customers I guess that 35 to 42 cent increase probably adds up real quick.
