Oh my god! its really become difficult! how do you save your electicity! do you face such problems? and how do you conserve your electricity? and maintain bill? do share your tips and ideas! Probably do it.. literally! If you want to save on your bills, then you should actively try to use less electricity. Like off the heater when you don't need it, etc.

turn off lights when you are not using them. switch your incandescent light bulbs to fluorescent ones. most of the ones in my house are fluorescent which save a lot of energy. keep your tv and computer monitor off when you are not using them. a good idea is to set your monitor to turn off after a period of inactivity by going to start menu settings control panel power options. under power schemes, set your "turn of monitor" to some value you would like your monitor to off after not using it for a while. if you like to watch videos on your computer, it can interfere with that so set the number higher. if you dont watch videos, you can set it to 1 min and it will save some energy.

Our electric bills re outrageous and they just keep getting higher despite conservation techniques. We have increased our insulation, used thermalate addititve when we paint, and make use of our open fires. Not only d they provide heat, but they also heat the water. We don't use a dishwasher and hang dry clothes, but the electric bill keeps getting higher and higher.

Here are the ways to save electricity : 1) Do not under ANY circumstances use electricity for heating or cooking. Throw away electric heaters and cook stove. I use the new high efficiency catalytic propane space heaters (Coleman makes a good one). Propane, even at $2.00 a gallon is 75% cheaper than electricity per BTU. Trade your electric stove for a gas or propane model, (most modern gas stoves can use either with a simple adjustment) 2) Toss out the electric hot water heater, it is the other biggest waste of money and electricity. Go to a gas or propane unit. The cost of hot water is less than half that heated by electricity. 3) replace all light bulbs with the new florescent units. What uses 100 watts to run with a conventional incandescent (glowing element) bulb takes only 20 watts for the same amount of light with florescent (and they last longer). This cuts light cost by 75%. I have reduced my power consumption to the bare essentials…. Refrigerator, freezer, computer, TV. I even use a portable (gas driven) generator to drive power tools when I’m building stuff, the gas way cheaper than the electricity used. The only thing you absolutely positively need full time electric power for, truth be known, is refrigerator and freezer, absolute necessities in the modern world.

That was the same dilemma we had before. Our solution, we looked for another place that costs the same as the one we were renting out before. The only difference is, our monthly rental now already includes power consumption. The house is smaller than the old one but we can use our appliances like the tv, computer and even aircon, without having to worry about how much our power bill would be.
