Shopping Online with PayPal

So the other night I wanted to do some shopping online with PayPal. I shop online a lot and usually just check out, pay with my PayPal balance, and be on my way. But last night, I was at an online camera store and went through the PayPal checkout. Then they wanted me to pay with credit card for instant payment. What? Have you ever had that happen before? I found that to be rather annoying. Why offer PayPal if you're going to be required to use your credit card anyway?

I have had the same problem. Since I have no credit or debit card, PayPal is the only way I can pay, so I just drop sites like that off my buying list. It´s because they are not actually accepting PayPal payments, they are using PayPal as a credit card shopping cart. Which sucks because you would automatically assume that they accept PayPal to PayPal payment, seeing the symbol there!

Yes, I have had that problem before too, so annoying! They lost my buisness that way because I don't use or carry credit cards to keep from going into debt! I did however have a balance in my paypal so they lost my buisness and I let them know that!LOL! I don't understand why any buisness owner would do it that way, I can see if they accepted multiple payment options. But why say they accept paypal and then only want a credit card payment? Makes no sense to me at all.

Exactly! Now I have to wait 2-4 weeks for a PayPal debit card to buy from that business.

That is very strange! I've never had that happen to me before. I'm actually more likely to buy from a site if they offer paypal. That is weird!

Me neither. And I'm also more likely to buy from a site if I can use PayPal. Not so much for the security, but because I can then use my PayPal balance.

I've never heard of this happening before. We use paypal via our company website and customers get the option of paying with teh balance from their paypal account or using their credit card through paypal.

That's how I assumed things always were too. Now I'm going to miss a sale because I have to wait for my debit card to arrive. Grr.

That is unusual.. I have never had that happen with my paypal account. All I can think of is that there was an error somewhere and your existing balance was not enough to pay for the purchase you were making..

It never even got to checking the balance. There was more than enough, I was only trying to buy a $30 item.

If I remember right when I set up my merchants account you had to check which types you would accept. Maybe you should contact the company it could be that they might not know they are set up this way and maybe they don't know that because of this they're losing customers.

I contacted their help people, but they were like... "Oh, PayPal? Contact them." So I did, and their help people weren't that great either.
