Haha, okay, your either going to laugh or consider how pathetic this discussion is but I'm sorry, i have to.... Can Your Hair Go Moldy, No, not after it's cut and in a bag, that's not what I'm asking, what I'm asking is can it go moldy on your head? Kay, see most times when i get out of the shower, i hate HATE the feel of wet/damp hair on my back, shoulders and whatever, so i throw it up in either a loop or a bun, most times a loop, but lately, it's been a bun. Anyway, it doesn't matter how long i leave it in, when i take it out, it's still damp, and well you know how things get moldy if it's left wet for so long, (NOT SAYING I WOULD EVER EVER LEAVE MY HAIR IN A BUN FOR THAT LONG!) so if anyone knows, or has thoughts on moldy hair, haha, post on in, this is made to be both serrious and funny here people, enjoy!

lol.. I'm not sure. Odds are, if you leave your hair in a bun for THAT long, it can and probably will go moldy. And ew.. How gross would that be?

OK, you must be seriously bored if your wondering if hair can get moldy from leaving it up in a bun for too long when it starts out being wet. LOL Wow! The things people think of when they are bored. ha ha And trust me...I am right there with ya and come up with some pretty off the wall ideas and thoughts. So, I'll play! Hmmm...you know...I would think that IF one left it up long enough, it probably WOULD mold. Given that the water one uses in the shower is not without any micros that are only ridden when boiled. The impurities of the water would be enough to plant a seed for mold to grow given time. Then when you also factor in the air around us...because most people do not live in a bubble...then there would thing be present in the air that could encourage mold to grow. HOWEVER....depending on the type of mold...it can take a little as 4 to 12 hours for germination...just the start of the process of it growing. But it can also take as much as 12 days for mold to grow. LOL If I had my hair up for THAT long...I would hate to take it down! And not because I would fear the mold...but because I would fear the pain of moving my hair. Have you ever had a ponytail too long and then took it down and moved you hair to find out...OUCH! That hurts! LOL Well, I think it would have to be much worse if you tried to grow mold in your hair! ha ha So...besides it being gross...I am just not willing to be a test subject. Sorry. But yes, I think it is very possible for mold to grow in one's hair. How was that? Did I answer your question?

Hahaha, you did GREAT haha, it was a stupid thought at first, now i just think OMG eew, that would be horrible... I think i've left my hair up for a day and a half, 2 at longest, oi won't be doing that again.. And that just grosses me out now what we wash in, oh my god girl your mean to make me think hahaha, jj, I have felt the pain with having your hair up too long and then going to move it, it friggen hurts, i hate it, and it usually comes within just a couple of hours for me, which is why i have it down most of the time. I'm so weird, and you did real good humoring me hun haha. Thanks for the grody thoughts ;)

LMAO! OMG! I never thought of this! I have one of those goofy "hairgami" things I put my hair in when it's wet, and sometimes I take it out and my hairis still damp, but sometimes I leave it in long enough for my hair to dry! Never again, I swear. Thanks spitfire, now everytime I put my hair in a bun I'm gonna think of you and mold! LOL

Lol .... what a frightening concept! I too usually throw my hair up after I've washed it because if I'm wearing a vest top, I hate the feeling of cold wet hair down my back. If I'm wearing a T. shirt, it doesn't bother me so much and I can leave it down. However, I have no idea if it could grow moldy lol, I'd never really thought about it. I'm guessing that nobody would leave their hair up long enough like that to find out lol.

Cute post hun hehehe! I'm not really sure. I too used to hate the feeling of damp hair so I'd just throw it back in a pony tail. I highly doubt that human hair (while still attatched) can go moldy. It's not really something I'd want to try either ewwww!

Kay back at you! I knew that I should have probably gone to pee before I read this, but oh heck, that's what Depends are for! I often pull my hair back in a clip thing and when I take it down find that it is still damp too. But it is never any longer than the following day that I take it down. (If I leave wet hair hanging down for some reason I get really hot and sweaty and then my underarm hair gets all wet and I'm afraid they will get moldy.) SpitFire, I have done massive amounts of research on this topic and found that no clinical studies have ever been done on the effects of Molding Human Hair While Test Subject Is Alive. Perhaps you should apply for a government grant to study this. I am most interested in the results you would get. You know, it could even branch out even farther and reach into the swimming pool, lakes, ocean, and creek swimmers that do the same thing. This is an AWESOME discussion. Keep thought provoking issues such as this coming so we will never forget that laughter is what is really needed to get us through each day. ~Donna ps - looking at your picture, is that a slight tinge of green I see on your hair on the right hand side :)

ROFLMAO..And to think I almost passed this discussion by... This has been almost fascinating...comparitively speaking that is. It is quite an interesting concept. I bet a trip to the local hair salon for some hair...some kid could have a really awesome science project...lol I'll never twist my hair up wet again without wondering if it's molding back there...,.lol

HA, very gross. I imagine that if it was left in a bun, wet for a LONG TIME it would get moldy. I bet it would. I dont like wet hair on my back and I usually pin mine up too! Hmmm now I am going to have second thoughts due to hair mold! ha!

Okay, this is one of the strangest questions I've seen yet. *laugh out loud* Mold, by definition, is "a growth of minute fungi forming on vegetable or animal matter, commonly as a downy or furry coating, and associated with decay or dampness." I don't think it's dampness alone that causes it to grow, so you shouldn't have to worry, that is, unless you're rolling around the ground before you put your hair up. :)

I use various brands and not expensive brands, I like to change every now and then as I think your hair likes a change, I think a shampoo of any brand but maybe a good conditioner to suit your hair types is good. I use vitress hair cuticle and I also had my hair relazed back in January. When you have your hair relazed, it tends to break easily and become dry and the breaking causes split ends so yeah, not a good picture. That's why hair spa is really needed. I ran out of the hair spa and lost my shower cap so I'll have to buy both again when I get the chance to go to the city. And when you have your hair relaxed you have to be very picky about who will do it because I got my hair relaxed three times since 2002 by three different stylist and the latest seems to be the best for me.
