How many time you donated your blood?

I have not had the privilege to donate my blood to someone needing it. I could have a chance to donate my blood to a family friend's daughter who underwent a surgery last february, but my red blood cells count did not met the standard. It was low. Well, i think i stay up late too much. In the future i would be willing too. As i've heard, there are a lot of benefits when you donate your blood. It will refresh your blood supply, they say.

I have donated once. The nurse had a little bit of a hard time gettting the blood to come out, but she got it. Then, since I had given blood once, I got called in to the blood donation center. The nurse could not get any blood to come out, she said I had small veins. She tried a couple times on each arm with no luck. She left with me two bruised arms and then said I could come back later and try again. I'm thinking, yeah right, in your dreams. I don't know if it was an inexperienced nurse and/or I have small veins, but I never went back. I would definitely go in and try if someone I knew needed blood. I can't remember what my blood type was.

I donate blood every few months. I donate at a local blood bank and it's just for them to use wherever it's needed; it's not for any particular person. I have a common blood type that's in demand for emergency transfusions, etc. so I try to donate regularly.
