I bought all new things for my daughter when it came to prams, car seats, cots, bassinets etc coz i wasn't keen on buying something that didn't come with a safety guarantee. However, as many clothes as i did buy for her, i also buy a lot of 2nd hand stuff on the condition it's in good condition. Most of the stuff i pick up is from eBay & a lot of the ones i have found & bought cheap have been worn only once or twice, or maybe washed once but never worn. It saves a lot of money coz little ones just grow out of their clothes so quick, it gets expensive buying new sized outfits every few months!

Considering that I've had 3 kids, all girls, I sure will buy preloved things. Garage sales are awesome, and you can find great things there, that don't even appear to really be used. All my kids had new stuff, yes, but they also had hand-me-downs. It saves money, and when you've not got much of that, then you do what you can. Even rich people look for the best bargains. There are stores that take kids clothes and give you store credit or cash for it, so that others that don't have as much money can put their kids in nice designer clothes as well, for a much lower price. So long as you wash the things before putting them on a kid, I see no issue with it. I was raised that way, with getting things like that as well.

We don't mind anything being secondhand at all. Most of his baby gear was brand new, at the time we lived in a remote area so we had to order the stuff by mail. I pick up a lot of clothes for him and the family at thrift stores. We also buy used cloth diapers online. I just wash everything in hot water so it's sanitized.

I think everyone wants new for there child but they grow so fast it is scenceless to buy everything new. yard sales and thrift stores have a lot of very nice things that have hardly been used or worn. Think of the money you save, you could use the extra money to buy something special for your child later.
