Why is it hard to read something you really want to read? Like I have a book by Joyce Meyer that I just love called "battlefield of the mind." I have not been able to get through but about half of this book. I really love this book but it has been a struggle for me to read. This is this way with a few books I really want to read.

You just have to find something that captures your attention immediately. The Harry Potter books are like that and so are most of Dean Koontz's novels. Joyce Meyer is one of my favorites but I think you have to hear her to appreciate the material. Most of her books are available on CD for a very, very low cost. I have a whole collection that I got from just making a donation of any account. You should get on her mailing list and see what she has to offer.

You hit the nail on the head. I was going to say that but did not want to be accused of preaching at anyone! lol I firmly believe that the devil's #1 job is to keep us out of the word of God. He will do that by distracting us, keeping us busy doing housework, or telling us we don't have time. It is good that you recognize what is going on. Try again, but take a minute to pray first and see what happens. Let me know how it goes.

That usually happened to me before but when I came to understand the Holy Bible, I do not only read but translate the Word of God from Greek to English.
I am a Christian, a child of God, baptized into Christ on October 1, 1989 and I belong to the Church of Christ founded and headed by Christ as shown in Acts Chapter 2. I am given the gift of knowledge and understanding Bible Greek and I translate the Word of God from Greek to English PLAINLY - Greek word into its English equivalent with additional words for grammar purposes written in italics so that readers may delete them when they so desire.
I have already published GENESIS, EXODUS, LEVITICUS (Greek-English), THE WILL New Testament (Greek to English), ELEMENTS of SALVATION, The Right Way, GOD, ORIGIN, TRANSFER into PERFECTION, GREEK-ENGLISH (Grammar & Vocabulary), WORDS in THE WILL New
Testament, and others shown at

I have seen the versions being circulated worldwide and they are generally admitted to be 80% NOT translations. My translations are 99.99% translations and I see the truth, beauty, and sweetness of the Word of God. I hope these books could also help people understand the Word of God and be saved.
I hope that you try these; you might not be distracted anymore and finish reading and I hope that people would include these in their reading too. May God bless all of us.

You are right. I am having a small library at my home. But half of the books are yet to be read by me. But now I started a plan. I decided that I will spend a least one hour in the night reading books. I also feel that we can encourage ourself, if we develop the habit of noting the interesting part of the book we read. Most of my discussions in "my lot" are from the books I read. I am also trying to note any new points collected during casual talk with my friends and relatives in this book .

Is it possible that deep down you don't like that book? I was in the habit of buying books I thought I should read, just to have them, after a couple of pages, collect dust on the bookshelf. And I was telling myself that it was a real good book, I just didn't have the time... Nonsense, at least as far as I was concerned. I just didn't ENJOY it, and that's what reading is all about. There are basically two types of books: one that tells us how the world and man/woman in it should be, like self-improvement books, books that deal with the spiritual/religion, a.s.o. The other type is about the world as it is. This type doesn't try to moralize. They are the only books I read now, and I do enjoy them.
