Is there anyone else who doesn't allow their children to sleep out?

We have had a rule here that we don't allow our children to sleep out unless we know the parent (s) we allowed one child to sleep out one time and the parents were outside till all hours drinking which made us feel uncomfortable, and since then we have said no more is there anyone else who don't allow their children to sleep out and why?

We haven't got to that stage yet, but when we do I will probably let her sleep out as children only rebel if you do not let them do their own thing.

my mom was like that and I never understood why. Now that I have children even though we didn't get to the age for them to sleep out yet. I would want to know the parents. Hell I don't trust alot of parents I know and one day I will have to explain why I don't let certain people even watch my kids. Maybe I'm over protective but I rather be safe then sorry. Your kids might not understand now but they will and I'm happy that there are still parents out there that care. There are kids around this neighborhood that climb on peoples roof at night and I wonder if their parents even know where they are.

I have three kids, 7 (8 in June!), 5 and 2. The opportunity to sleep out has happened yet and I'm not looking forward to it because the answer will probably be No. I would have to know the other person really well, been to their home, etc. You never know who could be a fruitcake. My oldest son has spent the night with grandparents and obviously I trust them but as far as other people, I'll deal with it when it happens but my kids probably won't be to happy with me.

i had a friend who wasnt allowed to sleep out at other peoples houses,i cant remember why either. I used to hate sleeping out when i was younger but i just didnt like sayin no all the time, i like my own bed and i dont see the point if your friend only lived round the corner lol unless your mum and dad were out. just depends on sircumstances i suppose

We dont let our daughter sleep over at peoples houses we dont know either. We have to know the families really well before we allow it. We dont allow her to invite kids over to our house either unless we know the parents. In this day and age there are just to many scary things happening out there to children.
