Bath Soaps - Liquid Or Bar?

Philippines

As I took a bath this morning, I have noticed that each of my children's bar bath soaps need some replenishing whereas, the liquid bottle has hardly been touched. I thought at first that they will take a liking to the liquid type because it is easier to use. Besides, one bottle can serve the entire family because, it will not be rubbing our bodies while being used, and it smells good too. It seems that it is not that easy for us to adjust to the idea of using liquid soaps over the bar ones, if we are used to having the bar ones since childhood. Do you agree with my observation?

We have long stopped using bar soaps. It just doesn't seem too hygienic unless we have our own bar. Plus, it is not exactly that "user-friendly". Nowadays, there is such a big variety of liquid soaps around that we can't even finish trying them all. In contrast, there are fewer bar soap choices around. You have to look hard for them.

I didn't know that this is what is going on in your country these days. In the Philippines, both bar and liquid soaps are in abundance. I had patronized liquid soaps for some years now but, it is only today that I started to wonder why my kids had not yet adapted to the idea of using liquid soaps. It is true that the beauty of liquid soaps is, we will not have to have one soap for each person. One bottle will be good for everybody. I find liquid soaps to be more economical, too.

Oh, I jumped right on liquid soaps as soon as I saw them! I use a scrubbie to lather myself (mine is even on a stick so I can srub my back.) when I am done I rinse out the srubbie & hang it up to dry. But even when I did use bar soap, I didn't rub it on my body, I either used the lather on my hand or a sponge or wash cloth.

Good thinking about using a scrubbie. What I have at home is loofah to scrub the skin. I believe that using a scrubbie on a stick is a better one.

Gee, I always thought they invented the scrubbies to go with liquid soap. I do like them a lot. I have used luffas too, but I have sort of sensitive skin & find them a bit harsher - tho I did have a luffa on a stick once!

No, we have to buy them separately here in the Philippines. There are some which come with washcloth but so far, I have never got one with a scrubbie.

Yes, I believe some psychological tests were given to this effect. The results given were inclined along the point wherein people tend to cling to what they had been used to. They feel comfortable doing the same things our of habit. Meaning, it has become habitual for most of us to do things in the same way.

I can see that there are still plenty of us around here who prefers to use bar soaps over the liquid ones. This is the reason why bar bath soaps still abound in many market places around us.

It is more advantageous if we keep a bottle of liquid soaps eventhough everyone in the family prefers to use the bar ones. Just like you, you find it good for handwashing. I should say that it is very logical. Everyone uses one soap only for handwashing. Making use of liquid soaps to serve the purpose is hygienic in a sense.

In our family we are using bar soaps since our childhood.Although there are lots of liquid soaps to choose on but still we are using bar soaps because we are used to them and we feel that every part of our body is clean after rubbing the soap to the whole parts of the body.

This must be the reason why my kids prefer to use the bar soaps. When I raised the question to them once, they just flashed me a smile.

I must be the weirdest person in the world. LOL I use both liquid and bar soap. I hop in the shower and just use whatever I am in the mood for at that particular time. I think that the scent of shower gel stays on my body longer then the scent of bar soap. I only purchase quality soaps though.

We use the liquid ones as every one can use, even guests. Plus it doesn't get as messy as a bar of sopa which is wet and gets all grimy on the side of the sink.

It is true that it is more advantageous to use liquid soaps. I can appreciate more the beauty of using it now that you have brought up its usefulness to include guests. I remember now that restaurants, eateries and the bath rooms at the malls have been using it to serve the needs of their guests. Yes, liquid soaps are more versatile than bar ones.

For me and my family, bar is o.k. Both children are small and they waste it too much if it is liquid, so bar works.

We didn't have liquid soaps when I was growing up so we always had to use bar soaps. Now that liquid soaps have become available, I would never use anything else and they are more hygienic. I have liquid soap dispensers over all my hand basins and also in the shower rooms and they are less expensive than traditional bar soaps.

Yes, I find liquid soaps to be more economical, too, compared to bar soaps. It is good that you have adapted easily to its use.
