5/15/24 - Update on My Husband

Called the beloved Social Worker and asked her why my husband wasn't getting physical therapy. Told her since we are on self pay he should be getting the service instead of sitting in his bed losing his muscle tone. She said, "I will tell them". Well, when I spoke to my husband last night he said he didn't get any PT. My next step is to call the therapists myself. Left a message in the Business Office that I would need an invoice for the $1,218 charge stating dates and reason for the charges. She never called me back so I will call again today. I am really angry at the way the people in this facility take care of their responsibilities and customers. Have heard nothing about the Reconsideration. I think I would call a Senior Advocate group and or Adult Protective Services and or AARP. You need an advocate. Someone to help with this rehab facility struggle. Your insurance company may even have something like that or Medicare could as well.Also, in terms of your home repairs..they might be able to recommend someone who would do it for free or low cost..although it probably wouldn't be fast

@LindaOHio Yes, but some of these charges that mysteriously show up might keep happening. Besides you might be able to get some helpful advice from a senior advocate or one trained to negotiate these sorts of bills.

As far as the $1,218 that we paid. I would be willing to go to court about this if they don't give me a rundown of what they are charging. My husband called this morning. They dressed him for physical therapy!!! Maybe my call did some good.

@snowy22315 Next time I won't pay from a letter; but they seemed anxious to get the charge paid. I will take the next step if I don't get an answer from the Business Office today.

I can understand your anger. It is disgusting how he has worked so hard to get to this point and now nothing more. I hope that the situation changes quickly.

Those people have a terrible service, they seem not to care at all of their patients and even less to keep their relatives updated. I can understand you are angry. I hope you can hear from them today.

Oh man, you must be livid.In the state of Kansas there is a volunteer advocate service that provides Ombudsmen for care home residents. The phone number is supposed to be posted visibly in public areas. Also the state "report card" telling about how many deficiencies the facility has. You might look into both of those things and also you might want to call the state department of health and human services and complain.

In a way, you are doing everybody from your country a favor. They will realize what can happen, and be prepared for it. Your posts indicate the hurdles. That said, I am truly sorry for such deficient service. I would call it that, and sue the facility in our consumer forum, and win the case too. Not sure, how they look at things at your end.

I wish there was something I could tell you to do but I can't for the life of me tell you what to do other than if you could just take him out of there & do the PT your self, but I know that's not good if you can't do what needs to be done to help him. Unless you can hire a personal Pt to do it for you.
