Something Better Always Comes Along

Back when I was at a kindergarten age, my mother enrolled me to take Taekwondo. In order to balance both sports and academics, she usually just enroll my brother and I during summer vacations. Fast forward, Taekwondo became my main sport. I was able to join a competition for the first time and eventually won a regional gold medal at the age of 12. By the time I entered high school, I exceeded both in academic studies and Taekwondo. Unfortunately, when I turned 13, my health suddenly declined. We found out that I actually inherited my mother's side illness called mitral valve prolapse, and anemia. The doctor prohibited me from doing any sports like Taekwondo because my body couldn't handle it. What made it worse was the added fact that I have an irregular menstrual period. Eventually, all strenuous physical activities stopped. That resulted to me focusing on academics. With that, I graduated as one of the valedictorian in our high school. So I guess what I actually wanted to say is that something better always comes along.

I think some level of sports is always good. I hope you can find something that suits you. Is there a mellow and meditative version of Taekwondo?

So far the only sport that I find fulfilling is golf. I'm still new to it but I find it to be something that my heart can allow me to do.

@HaruLoid Golf is too expensive for me. I work largely in social services.

@TheHorse It's true that golf is expensive, but I only play at the golfing range. There, we can rent one golf club and pay for 40 golf balls. It's a pretty good deal for me considering on how expensive golf is in actuality.

I'm sorry you inherited your mother's disease. I'm glad you excelled in academics and became a valedictorian at your school.

I am sorry you inherited that illness, and that you had to give up Taekwondo. I am glad you are thriving in other ways though, and I love that positive attitude.

I have inherited the illness but it's most likely there to point me to the right direction.

As I should. We can't just let life beat us up into a pulp.
