Wings of Hope Hospice - About Wings of Hope Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc. Hospice Care We provide hospice care to adults facing the end of life and their families in Allegan County and surrounding communities. Care is provided by a team of caregivers in patient homes, hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and any other settings. Wings of Hope Hospice is the only hospice located within Allegan County. It began serving Allegan County in 1984 through a dedicated group of volunteers who believed that Allegan County needed and wanted this type of care. Their dedication paved the way for the strong grassroots volunteer base which is the heart and soul of Wings of Hope. The butterfly, adopted as the logo when Wings of Hope formed, symbolizes the struggle and resulting beauty achieved as the butterfly emerges from the cocoon. It reminds us of the hope hospice gives during the freeing of the spirit. Wings of Hope is a community-based, freestanding, and independent hospice dedicated to open access to all those who wish our care. To better achieve this goal we moved our office location from Plainwell to Allegan in June, 2000. This central location means that we are closer to all locations in Allegan County. The name of the organization changed to include 'palliative care,' indicating the commitment of Wings of Hope to provide leadership for a new focus on care for those with chronic, debilitating illness. Giving Assistance, Providing Support (GAPS) Giving Assistance, Providing Support (GAPS) is now available to chronically ill people who would benefit by receiving practical support in the home, such as household chores, meal preparation and transportation. Grief Support Grief Support is available to anyone in the community living with the death of a loved one.
