Train travel in Mumbai - Mumbai has one of the biggest public transport systems known as Mumbai Suburban Railway. Two zonal railways, viz., Western and Central Railway are managing the system. The trains are carrying 6.9 million commuters daily, which comprises more than half of the total daily passenger capacity of the Indian Railways itself. Both the system combined has the highest passenger densities of any urban railway system in the world. The trains plying on the routes are colloquially referred to as local trains or simply as local by the general populace.
