I have recently adopted a cat left by our neighbors who moved out. I never had a pet when I was a kid so I do not have the slightest idea on ho to take care of him. My mom says that we just leave him cause he'll survive on his own...

SammyHu I have no experience of keeping the cat as a pet. However, we have ever kept some cats to catch the rats in my hometown during the childhood. There is only rice with fish soup to feed cats.
