Why do old punk bands and indie bands sometimes get called emo?

jumesbond @jumesbond (109) • Turks And Caicos Islands 4 Sep 10

Sometimes I see bands that are not emo get called emo. These bands aren't even in the style of music of emo and would not fit in the emo genre, but I see kids who like emo calling them "emo" bands. Why is that?

darkscythejason @darkscythejason (4) 21 Sep 11
