I was sitting in traffic and stopped directly in front of a tanning salon. There were about 4 women standing outside smoking cigarettes and chatting. They were very darkly tanned. Their skin had that overcooked look to it....

Feona1962 It doesn't look real. I know some tans do look real but it seems like you can tell who uses the beds and who doesn't. I would think this could have a bad effect on the skin after a while. My mother died of skin cancer when she was 29, so I am very careful...

Polly1 Just think how yucky their skin is going to look as they get older. Some day they will be sorry for all the tanning.

I was at the dermatologist office today and they had a patient information video going. it mentioned the dangers of using tanning beds - the increase risk of cancer, the aging and wrinkling of your skin and other things. It...

misheleen73 I am very pale/fair skinned. I have done my best all my life to avoid the sun. I never understood why people wanted to "bake" themselves just for a tan. We are what we are, black, white, olive, tan, whatever. I know that the sun/ UV rays are very harmful to...

DanaMark I was wearing shorts once to a restaurant and a colleague saw me. He said "I have two words for you. Tanning bed." In those days I didn't have time to get out in the sun because of my job. Even with his suggestion, I have never used a tanning bed. I guess I...

I don't understand why people like tanning their skin. I have ever heard that it may cause skin health problems. Is there any particular reasons why some people like tanning?

James72 I would have to agree with you that American Beauty is an exceptional film. I enjoyed it immensely. The characters were very complex and the cinematography was very well orchestrated. What is interesting is listening to the Director's commentary on DVD;...
