hppygrrrl I think 3 years is good. My daughter is 4.5 and we are still trying to get her a sibling! I think 5 years is too far apart, but bet late than never:)

I talk to my pets a lot. When my very first puppy was with me, I use to just talk to her and she usually put her head on my lap and listen to me. After my duaghter died, I guess she knew about it and she didnt eat for 3 days....
