Female Red Bellied Woodpecker - This is a female Red Bellied Woodpecker. These are identified by the red on their head. The female only has red from the nape up to the cap. The male, however, has red all the way from the nape, over the cap to the beak. The reason they are named Red Bellied is because if you get a glimpse of their belly, they have a nice soft red tone. They are beautiful birds!
