He shared more experience in his book... - Swami Vivekananda, whose pre-monastic name was Narendranath Dutta and was affectionately known to some as Naren (January 12, 1863 - July 4, 1902) was one of the most famous and influential spiritual leaders of the philosophies of Vedanta and Yoga. He was the chief disciple of Ramakrishna Paramahamsa and was the founder of Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission. Many consider him an icon for his fearless courage, his positive exhortations to the youth, his broad outlook on social problems, and countless lectures and discourses on Vedanta philosophy. Swami Vividishananda was another name that Swami Vivekananda had assumed for some time during his wanderings as a monk in India. Vividisha is a sanskrit word which means 'the desire to know' and Ananda means 'bliss'. As is customary in the Hindu religion and spirituality, a monk has to renounce everything of his early life including his family and even his name. In the same spirit, when young Narendra Nath Dutta adopted monkhood, he changed his name. His final and famous name happened to be Swami Vivekananda which was given to him by the King of Khetri in Rajasthan who was a friend and a disciple of the Swami.
