The movie "I Am Legend" -- Whats with all the UNNECESSARY Bob Marley references?

Wow, one of the most redundant things about this movie is Neville's.... or should I say WILL'S.... obsession with Bob Marley! Let's see, the song is played at least 4 times throughout the whole film and then at the end credits....

steven meza Bob Marley and Neville share a lot in common and he feels close to Marley because of his ideas. In the scene where he is talking about Bob Marley to Ana he says that Marley had a virologist idea, he believed you could cure hate and rascism by injecting love...
