chrisdunham Neither. He was just a guy trying' to get by by robbing banks. I think he only fired his gun when being fired upon. Just because you have a gun doesn't mean you have to use it. Guns make nice mantle pieces too.

zeeterman Bank robbers weren't particularly viewed as terrible criminals by the average American in the 1930's. There was even a bit of Robin Hood sentiment when bank robbers would destroy the mortgage records at the banks they hit.

zeeterman Good comment. He was however never convicted of shooting the police officer, though it's likely he did. Sources claim that Dillinger only shot the cop because he kept bouncing lead off of Dillinger's bulletproof vest! Man's gotta have limits!;)
