Who is your favourite Canadian?

nkife52 @nkife52 (207) • Canada 23 Jan 07

CBC aired the The Greatest Canadian a while back and the people voted for Tommy Douglas, who brought us umedicare. I voted for Robertson Davies, but I would've voted for Dai Vernon if he was on the list. He was a card magician...

Simpsons Movie: What Are Your Expectations?

nkife52 @nkife52 (207) • Canada 24 Jan 07

I'm hoping they've brought back some of the older writers for the movie, because the recent episodes have been getting pretty lame. I'm expecting great things, though, because it's taken them so long to start working on it....

randomosity_prevails I have great hopes for 'The Simpsons' movie. I don't know if it'll be the same quality as the episodes, as I think that 30 minutes is a better slot to fill than two hours. A whole film could just turn into a long episode, like Family Guy. Here's hoping it...

Do you think Radiohead is over-rated?

So many people obsess over them, it's quite ridiculous. I mean, they are a really good band, but do they really deserve their cult-like status?

ma_belle I really don't think Radiohead is over-rated. Actually I think they are amazing. Yes, I do prefer some of the older albums compared to Hail to the Thief, but they are still amazing and very talented. I don't think many other bands or musicians display a...

addicted2luv I like Radiohead from their very first album until OK computer. They seem to get weird and very experimental. Anyways, i know that they're just playing their music and if anybody is obssessing over them, it's not their problem.

randomosity_prevails I don't think that Radiohead are over-rated. They are a brilliant band, and kind of became a voice of a generation. While we were all sat around feeling depressed and apathetic, they were singing about it. They were the ones who spoke for the rest of us.

Justareceptionist I only like a couple of their songs I've heard but I don't see why people have to obsess over them. I've heard how Coldplay's been called "The poor man's Radiohead" and quite honestly, Coldplay blows them away.

Seinfeld or Friends

snowflake5 Well I appreciate Seinfeld and find it funny but the appreciation is more on an intellectual level - it's clearly a clever program. I prefer Friends though. it's just a warmer, more affectionate show, the jokes are all affectionately done and you get the...

A possible new cure for cancer, but drug companies won't fund it.

nkife52 @nkife52 (207) • Canada 31 Jan 07

This is a very disturbing story that shows just how the big pharmaceutical companies today are so entrenched in the capitalistic mind set that even a possible cure for cancer isn't worth their attention if it won't make them much...

I'm going out to a movie with my husband at the discount theatres. I can't choose between The Fountain or Stranger Than Fiction. Have you seen one or both of these? Which do you recommend?
