I'm 54! Gad, I never believed I'd make it this far! My philosophy when I was young was to live fast, die young and be a great looking corpse. I certainly have a lot of wonderful memories. Wish my kids would remember my birthday,...

I feel sorry for all those poor neglected plants at Walmart. I love the clearance section--well, it's a sad place but I can get plants cheaply and nurture them back to health. Here is an orchid I got that was nearly dead. I paid...

dragon54u Thank you! What's funny is that I was never able to grow plants with any success until I had children then all of a sudden I had a green thumb. Wierd, huh?

With all the bad stuff going on right now, are you able to count your blessings or are you worried sick and not enjoying life? I'm counting my blessings. No matter how much money I could have or don't have, I have my health so...

When I moved back here to Ohio, I was dismayed at all the stray cats running around. There was even the occasional stray dog, looking tired and thin. So I started leaving out food, thinking I would eventually have a huge pet food...

When I lived in Arizona, you had to hire professionals if you needed any household chore done. Here in Ohio, the kids are eager to do anything to earn money--rake yards, pick up dog poop, shovel snow, etc. I remember doing...

dragon54u I get some boy/girl scouts occasionally. I'm a sucker for kids doing fundraisers, especially the scouts! I had a boy scout last year selling popcorn canisters (full) and was shocked to learn that his scoutmaster had set the boys' goal for at least one thousand...

I took that in high school in 1971-72. I was really good at it! However, after a work-study program, I never used it again because executives began using dictaphones. I got really good at taking dictation from that, it was great...

Anyone remember that old Joe Walsh song, Ordinary Average Guy? This was one of the first sunny and dry days here in Ohio for quite some time and I got ambitious. Got my plastic glove and bag but unfortunately there wasn't too much...

andiesartistry I think that you have to have both. A good camera and talent. Otherwise your photography just won't turn out the way you want it to. I just purchased a new camera that I absolutely love. I needed it for my jewelry business. It isn't a DLSR but for $250 it's...

dragon54u HA!! Did you tell him about it? I've lived in places with very few outlets besides this house I've bought, but it doesn't bother me very much. I'm not big on electronics, really. Having few outlets is little more than an inconvenience, it's just strange...

dragon54u Sounds like your pet peeves could be eliminated if people would have some manners! But I like your attitude--you're right, there's no need to add to the trouble in the world. Your goodness in controlling yourself is good karma!

Pigglies I'd say that you could. When digital cameras first came out, I won a Nikon CoolPix 800 in a photo contest. It's 2MP and was 2X zoom (only count optical, digital zoom just makes the photos look bad). I had tons of photos that were great. I could print...

trickiwoo It's not the camera that makes the picture, it's the photographer! However, a good camera can add a lot more creative flexibility. There are some good entry-level DSLRs that you could buy used for under $500. I would check websites like Craigslist or eBay. You...

dragon54u We old folks can be as wild and crazy as you young ones, we're just more cautious about it. ;-) I like the idea of that earring that folds, I haven't seen those before. Where do you get them?
