I am 35 weeks pregnant with my second child. Since my son was born nearly 12 years ago I decided to got to a pregancy class to refresh my memory. It was excellent. It was with the Natioanl Childbirth Trust. They kept the group small with only six couples. It covered everything from eating well in pregnancy, shopping for your baby, planning the birth and caring for your baby. Yestetrday evening was our last session. Three couples came along from a previous class. The babies they brought were adorable. Do you go/intend to go to a pregnancy class?

I went to baby classes before I had my first daughter. I did pick up some useful tips from them, but I think that they avoided the hard reality of having a child and just focused on the nice parts, which wasn't that helpful for me as I got depressed after the birth as I didn't konw what to expect.

It is a shame that your class did not focus on the reality of having a baby. I am sorry you were depressed after the birth. I just got a leaflet on baby blues and post natal depression yesterday evening. I really like your 'vegans care'. My baby is due next month and he is going to be a vegan like me.

First of all, congrats on your pregnancy. I hope it has been a good one for you. I attended such a class when I was pregnant and boy am I glad I did. I had been reading everything I could get my hands on and doing all I thought I needed to do to prepare, but during the class I thought, "my gosh, I really don't know anything at all!!!" I have since met so many people who teach those classes (honestly, it seems everytime I turn around I meet someone new who teaches birthing/parenting classes) and I make it a point to express to them the role they truly play in the life of first time parents. Good luck with your delivery. It won't be long now.

Hi maximax, I went to pre-natal courses with my husband before our daughter was born last June! I am so glad we went, as we were first time parents and we recieved a lot of great information! I am really glad that we went and if we have another one we will definitely attend pre-natal courses again!

I went to a child birthing class when I was pregnant. I had my daughter at a birthing center and was required to go through a child birthing class to deliver there. It was well worth it. I learned a lot of great relaxation techniques to get me through my labor and delivery and it focused on the good and bad things you go through during child birth.
