What do you do to beat the heat during summer. I am now in Delhi, India where the temperature has gone to 40+ degree Celsius & for next 3 months people here will have to face it. Normally I use to drink lots of water, take fresh fruits and Juices and Salads.
Do you have any specific advice. Also let me know how to protect children from the heat waves.

Well Philippines is also under intense heat. I am not sure how hot in here but it is definitely hot. Imagine, the only activity your doing is standing and you sweat. That's how hot it is right now. Imagine it if your playing extreme activities then you probably are losing lots of sweat. To avoid dehydrating, I drink plenty of cold water. I take a bath more than once everyday and eat plenty of cold food and drinks.

We have the same situation here in the Philippines. It seems that this year is one of the hottest summer in recent times. Drinking lots of water and eating fresh fruits as you say, would usually quench any raging thirst, both for children and adults. Water is usually the best, followed by fresh fruit juices, or any summer fruit smoothies. I would usually avoid instant juices, as they contain sugar, which induces more thirst later. We don't have what you can call heat wave in the Philippines, but in extreme heat, I would usually allow my kids to take a bath as often as they want, even at night.

I drink lots of water. I mean I drink lots of cold water to rehydrate and at the same time to cool me down. I also take a bath twice a day. Once in the morning and another one before going to sleep.
When I go out, I also use sun block to protect my skin from the sun's heat. Here in the Philippines, the problem is that it is very humid. Thats what makes our summer very uncomfortable.
