Is this sort of thing allowed here, on myLot?

I've noticed an increasing number of people replying to just about every "new user discussion" with a one-line response something to the effect of, "Yes, I agree with you," or something that relates to the question at hand, accompanied by a paragraph or two of text that appears to be copied and pasted from a text file, welcoming the person to myLot and giving them some friendly advice. That's all well and good, but there are a few users who have hundreds of such replies, almost as if that's all they're doing. I'm not trying to upset anyone here, so please forgive me if I have. I was curious if this sort of behaviour was frowned upon. It seems a very easy way to inflate a post count.

It's not supposed to be....but yet you see so many of those discussions. They do tend to clutter the discussion sections and make it very hard and time consuming to find a decent discussion to reply to. My guess is....those people have not read the posting and replying guidelines and they are thinking that they will make more money this way and most likely those are the ones that end up posting something like"I replied to 50 discussions yesterday and all I got was 5 cents(or something like that)".You would think that they could put two and two together....but some of them just don't get it.I have noticed that some of them will just disapear after a while....guess they just got tired of wasting everybodys time. You can either report them....or ignore them. The choice is really up to you.

Thank you, winky, and everyone else who took the time to reply. This is what I figured. As I generally don't like reporting people unless they've done something "really" bad, I suppose the kinder route would simply be to ignore them. What can I say, I'm a softie. :) By the way, winky, your avatar is ADORABLE! Is that a baby basset or a beagle? I Just want to squeeze him! :)

is it one or two users?they are just everywhere.people starting discussions which can accomodate one or two word replies only.i have seen this from the time i joined up mylot.people keep posting discussionslike how you do with hope that it ll stop but things only continue to be the same.i dont think we ll ever see an end to this one liners.

You're probably right, dbeast, we won't see an end to them anytime soon. Another thing I keep seeing an increasing number of are recipe posts. While it's nice that people are able to share their favourite recipes, I don't see how cutting and pasting a recipe for a site such as foodnetwork.com and posting it here constitutes a discussion.

i really appreciate your post and couldnot agree more on this. elizabethbathory, this is against myLot rules and anydone doing that will suffer its consequences soon and sooner. ideally, they should be rated Negative or Reported. howver, it's difficult to negative rate someone and anyone unless it's too much on your nerves. i feel, we can hammer through their minds and let them realise that this is not acceptable. so instead of escaping and let it go, we should be more active. you did a wonderful job through this post. thank you.

Actually we should not post one liner discussions or responses. But some people just never learn to do proper things. But I think they don't get paid for such kind of posting, their number of posts goes up though. We should avoid one liner discussions, when they will not get response to those post they will learn their lesson.

I agree, sweetlady, and I try to do just that--avoid answering questions such as, "What is the internet? Please explain." Those people are obviously trying to get over on the system. But, sadly enough, a lot of people seem more than willing to reply, for whatever reason. On a different note, I will sometimes post one-line comments to replies, thanking someone for something, though I try to elaborate as much as possible, even when I do that.

Their replies maybe accepted butthey will not earn for those types of posts here on mylot for mylot only pay and give payments to quality and never quantity posts here and we should keep that in mind so all our efforts here are properly paid and taken into our earnings for our welfare.

no one liner responses are not allowed.I got this information from one of the previous discussions started by one of my friend who had mailed the mylot admin on this. In such cases you can report abuse and notify the mylot admin on this. And just by welcoming people with same messages often in the new liner discussion, that is gain bad and one of us can mail mylot admin and ask and then report such cases if the admin disapproves the same.

It's not allowed, and there are two things you can do about it. You can give those replies a negative. If enough people start doing that, it will eventually have an effect on the person's rating. If you notice that one person is doing that regularly, send a report to mylot, including the statement that this is only one of many by the same person.

They can do whatever they like, but they will not get paid for short answers and they will not get paid for repeating the same answer over and over. That is exactly what spamming is. You should take a minute and just send their name to administration next time it happens and they will be kicked out.

"me too"-ing isn't allowed. if you do it once in a blue moon, they probably let it go by,but not constantly. they don't allow multiple posting of the same thing either, like generic welcomes.

I think your missing the most important point. It's the quality that pays not the quantity. I could post a hundred one-line posts in the joke forum, and make very little earnings. On the other hand if you have ten posts that are well versed and also very popular you will make more earnings then the hundred one-liners. It is almost harder to make money spamming one-liners than it is to just have an intelligent conversation, in my opinion.

Until now I havent met some one like you said, most people here are very nice.I dont know if it is forbidden here to do that but I really dont like that kind of replies so I will give them negative rate or just simple ignore them.Maybe they just dont get the rules here that do them no good ,when they realize that i think they will do better.

Yes this kind of thing is not permitted here Im positive. Your right its just another forum of cheating for these lazy people who think they will make riches here. All I can offer you for advice is stay away from those peoples topics because if they cutting and copying them from other users they will be deleted and you will lose earnnings. If you notice something like this then report it to the admin so we can keep this site alittle cleaner.

Very good topic, but sadly, there so many discussions that only warrant a yes or no answer, or a simple 3 or 4 word reply. I know I am guilty of just going through the new user discussions waiting and hoping to find a good discussion to join.
