I am positive that one could live without high speed internet. in fact if we consider the need you have for that kind of speed, you'll see that it's not a lot more usefull than having dial-up... Of course you can watch videos on youtube, and such... but with dial=up you can send and receive mails, you can use yahoo messenger, aaaa you can play World of Warcraft without any problems... So... yeah... you can totaly live with dial-up. (I agree that Cable is better, but...)

I had cable for 3 years, new I have fiber link the problem is that with bigger speed came many hours of downloading and playing online:d,and yes I'm obsessed with my download speed so i don't know how I will be able to live with dial-up in this days, don't understand my wrong I used dial-up and I know how it is but now it's to slow:D. But i remember that dial-up was the only alternative many years ago. Bottom line is my life would be hard without internet so even if I'm used with grater speed i don't mind having dial-up again just to have the chance to browse just in case i will not have any options related to my internet provider. Do you like DSL just because you have bigger speed for downloading , or do you have other reasons ?

I wish I could have DSL. Since I dont have it I enjoy my dial up connection as I dont have any other options. In my opinion, being on net is important not having a speedy connection. Wish you good luck

hix...i still use dial up, because in my country broadband still expensive for me, can't u imagine broadband $50 juat only 64-128 Kbps ( share 1:10) if u want dedicated line for 64 kbps it's worth $200-250.....expensive right ?

I only have had my own computer for about three months now, and I knew right away I couldn't go any less than DSL--I have a friend who has dial up and the waiting to do anything on her computer was enough to make one scream....besides since I do a lot of my photo work on the computer and upload photos, dial up would be an insane choice--yes, its cheaper but the quality and speed of DSL is so much better

I had dialup until about 5 years ago and it was slow even then. Things have only gotten slower with all the graphics=intensive Web site and music and video that are part of the online experience today. I'd go crazy if I have to deal with dialup today.

I am on dial up and while it has limitations, you learn to work with them. Anything that has to be done quickly is best done at the library. That is not a bad thing. Anyway, I have contacted someone to come and install equipment in my rural home and see if can get broadband. I am very hopeful. Wish me luck.

I couldn't imagine having dial-up since I've had cable internet for so long. I think i would get really frustrated with dial-up if I had to have it again. However, I don't have a landline in my house, so I use my cable provider for internet.

I think it would depend on your perspective. Why would you require high speed? Whats the hurry? I get along just fine at 56K (dialup) and it only costs $9.95/month (in New Zealand dollars)! thats about $7.00 USD If I looked at my computer as a toy for my entertainment, then I would probably be doing a lot of downloading, so then a faster service would be better. I use my computer mainly for business. I get along just fine with dialup. I have never had broadband or cable or WiFi, so really, I cant answer your question - yet!

I was on Dial up for about 10 Years so it really did not bother me to much. But some websites are for high speed connections anymore which I think is not Fair due to the Fact that People still use Dial up .I just got DSL like 6 months ago and have had more problems with my phone line so its been kinda like dial up half the time.Just about 56k a little Faster. Thak You for your Responce.

I also have dial-up connection. Problem with Dsl, Cable and High Speed internet is availability. Like here in New York there are still places here that those services are not available specially in upstate. You only have 2 options which first is Satellite, very expensive you have to pay for the equipment other than the monthly service but it is reliable and very fast like broadband and high speed. While Dial-up is more practical but you have to have a telephone line. All I'm saying is I can live without the fast internet access or connection.
